Tamiyaclubs 20th birthday
Hard to believe we’ve been going for 20 years. What started out as a place to post pictures of your models ended up being a worldwide community which has lead to many great friendships and I consider myself lucky to have been part of it. He’s a quick thank you from me and lots of very kind words from our members. Check out the site over the next few days as we are giving away a lot of great stuff to celebrate.

18658 Chevalier (MA chassis)

The model name is the French word “chevalier”, which means knight in Italian.
Model features:
– This is a mini4WD assembly kit from the PRO line. Length: 156mm, width: 97mm, height: 38mm.
– The MA chassis is molded in black ABS and combined with black molded A-parts.
– The dark blue ABS body features a sports car design and a three-part design for easy assembly.
– The silver Y-pattern spoked wheels are matched with black low-profile small-diameter tyres.
– Dedicated metal effect stickers are included to decorate the model.
– Motor type 130 included. The model uses a 3.5:1 gear ratio.
– A wide range of accessories allows customisation of the model.
19803 Lord Knight (VZ chassis)
Strong and noble night driving Shaft drive A plastic model assembly kit for high-performance racers that uses four-wheel drive. Rhodonite is a machine driven by Gris McKenzie, the main character’s classmate who appears in the manga serialized in CoroCoro Comic, “MINI 4 KING”. The sharp styling accents are the canopy guard frame and the rear-extending comb-like air intake. It is one of the characteristic ones with a graceful atmosphere reminiscent of the armor worn by Western knights (knights). In addition, there are three types of special parts that greatly enhance driving performance: a rear high mount roller with a side guard stabilizer function, a front under guard, and a height roller. Not only does it prevent the course from going off and improve driving stability, but the contrast between the blue body and clear yellow is also attractive. The chassis is lightweight, compact and adopts VZ suitable for actual battles, and large diameter slick tires are set on white dish type wheels. The logo on the front with a strong presence is expressed with metallic stickers.
VZ chassis in pursuit of strength and expandability The VZ chassis is a further refinement of the performance of the compact, lightweight, short wheelbase VS chassis that is also popular in racing. While maintaining the excellent features of the VS chassis such as small turning performance and high maintainability, the strength of the bumper, rear stay base, propeller shaft bearing, etc. has been improved. The point is the appropriate “bending” that absorbs the impact. In addition to the rear roller stay, the front bumper can also be split. The degree of freedom of setting is also greatly improved. And the bearing of the shaft adopts 620 plastic bearing made of POM resin with low frictional resistance. A parts such as chassis body and gear cover, and special parts are made of ABS resin. The gear ratio is set to 4.2: 1.
Basic specifications ● Overall length 158 mm, overall width 98 mm, overall height 45 mm ● With motor ● Can be assembled by fitting and screwing without using adhesive
- [Rear high mount roller] Side guard with stabilizer function The lane change stabilizes the vehicle body and prevents it from going out of the course, and also has a stabilizer effect that prevents the vertical surface under the roller from hitting the course wall and going out of the course.
- [Front under guard] While reinforcing the front bumper, it improves driving stability by contacting the road surface on uphill roads such as lane changes and functioning as a brake. The front stabilizer of Road Spirit and the front under stabilizer of Jado Ace can be installed at the same time.
- [Height Roller] The side surface of the roller is 4 mm in height, and it is mounted at a position about 2 mm higher than the standard roller, further improving stability.
- “Chris MacKenzie” is the classmate of the main character, Mota Kudo, who appears in the Shogakukan CoroCoro Comic serialized manga “MINI 4 KING”.

Fox On The Run – Building The Tamiya Novafox
The Tamiya “Fox” was my third Tamiya buggy back in the good old days.
And yes, I loved this car. Compared to my “Falcon” and “Grasshopper” the suspension worked really well. Incidentally, it was the first Tamiya vehicle to feature the “modern” yellow C.V.A. dampers. And the car wasn’t just fast, it looked fast too. The flat and slim design shaped a whole generation of buggies in the 80s and 90s.
And when Tamiya brought out the re-release of “The Fox”, the “Novafox”, I had to get one right away, of course.
Still, it took a while for me to finally finish it.
And that almost annoys me a little, because the “Novafox” looks so damn good now.
Back then, 1985 to be precise, the “Fox” could well be considered the first attempt at a competitive 2WD buggy, which, as we know, it never really was.
But for the ambitious leisure driver, the car was really more than good to use. And I had a lot of fun with my Fox back then when we competed with Hornet, Frog, Falcon, etc.
And with the closed chassis, the car was well protected against dirt, which of course was less good for quick maintenance at races.
But now to the “Novafox”.
As with every Tamiya re-release, building it was tremendous fun. It was like a little throwback to building my first “The Fox” back in the 80’s.
The “Novafox” is already almost completely equipped with ball bearings. We also gave him the 4 standard 1150 bearings for the front wheels, who are not included with the kit.
And of course a Tamiya “Sport Tuned” motor could not be missing. To give it a little individual “touch”, I use the “2WD Front Rib-Spike Tires” No. 54896.
The wonderful golden “Aluminum Nerf Guards” are an old Hop Up part from “Parma” which I had at home for almost 20 years. And goes wonderfully with the golden rims and the metallic green paintscheme.
We are extremely happy with the result and look forward to the soon to be released re-release of the famous “Thunder Shot”, one of our absolute favorite 4WD buggies from the 80s.
But for now, enjoy the “Novafox” !

Tamiya RC Advice Vol.21- Modifying on-road TT-02 to rally spec (Part 1)
The popularity of RC rallies, where you can enjoy driving on flat dirt roads, is increasing. Therefore, this time we will introduce how to change the on-road specification car of the shaft drive 4WD “TT-02 chassis”, which is also the most suitable as an entry model, to the rally specification. TT-02 chassis matching part list can be found here.
