Reissue version “Big wig” released!

From Tamiya Corporation, Yura Design Electric R / C 4WD Racing Buggy Reprint version “Big Wig (2017)” will be released on Saturday March 11 this Saturday.

“Big wig” is the year 1986, 31 years ago.
The 4WD Racing Buggy RC car released as the 10th anniversary model of Tamiya Electric RC car birth.
Yura is in charge of the body design, and the body design is developed jointly by Tamiya (then: Tamiya model).
Tamiya who does not design the model outside the company was also talked about by appointing Yura as a designer.

This time it will be released, “Big wig (2017)” of the reprinted version added with improvements without changing the basic composition at the time.
The logo of the body also differs somewhat.
I think that the mark of our company “MOONCRAFT” is placed large in the rear wing, too.

As for Mooncraft, we are collecting Big wig materials etc at that time in 1986, so we will introduce it again at BLOG later.

Also, the previous magazine’s interview was done before the old and the new two big wigs.
The Big wig of 1986 was exhibited also in the reception room of Mooncraft.

Electric RC car 4WD racing buggy “Big wig (2017)” is published in the latest issue of “RC Model Magazine” currently on sale – April 2017 issue. This “radio control magazine” is a memorial number of 500. In commemoration No. 500, the reprint version of the electric R / C car 4WD racing buggy “Big wig” released by Yura in 1986 and featured in Yuri was featured in “Big Wig (2017)”. “Big wig (2017)” will be on sale March 11th this Saturday from Tamiya Co., Ltd. Living great times – the Tamiya re-re-releases


Tamiya plastic model factory Shimbashi just posted some photos of the Boomerang “reprint” of the re-release version as well as some other re-releases offered and this made us think how great actually the current times are for us classic Tamiya RC kit fans, we can just go to our hobby shop and admire and buy any of them like as if we were a teenager in the glorious 1980s again. 15 years ago that was a so far away dream, a group of us was thinking how great it would be and were even so excited about something now comparably so unspectacular like the re-release of the BMW E30 M3 Schnitzer body on the TT-01 chassis and now we can buy legendary kits like the Sand Scorcher, Bruiser and Avante New In Box anytime and anywhere! Funnily some still complain either about kit XXX not re-released yet or too many re-releases, well that’s human nature. We can only repeat, thank you so much TAMIYA for making this dream come true!

High-quality finish is no longer region of Art

Carefully painted parts of the scale model kit, tastefully layout. It is the parts panel series that we commercialized as a fashionable 3D interior. Of course it is not “just arranged in painted parts without assembling it?” Place parts which are not necessarily flat on the sandpaper laid on a glass plate and bond them to the acrylic board of the base after creating bonded surfaces one by one. We are completing it many times over the assembly. In addition, the parts are repeatedly arranged repeatedly. So it is not too much to say that the finish is called art. Directly produce rooms and garages.


Prepare the full size layout data decided by rearranging dozens of patterns until you agree.


After painting the parts, put sandpaper on the glass plate, scrape the back side one by one to make adhesive surface.


While paying close attention, paste the parts according to the layout data.


Since parts are three-dimensional shapes, further modifications are made from various angles, such as arrangement balance and color tone of each, to determine final specifications.


Dual structure wood frame is designed exclusively.


Use familiar embossed mats in paintings and posters framing. It is an important item that makes product spread and depth.


Embossed mat embossed Tamiya mark under the center. A mark with a three-dimensional feeling exudes a high-class feeling.


Also fix the backing board with exclusive tacker with the same method as paintings and framing of posters, and seal with green tape.


I attached a hanging metal fitting and a hang string convenient for hanging. Product weight is about 5 kg.


On the side of the wooden frame, we carve grooves by NC machining, embed Tamiya metal sticker, and produce a high quality mood.


Characters on the name plate were etched. Metal texture tightens the finish of the whole panel.


Attach a sticker stating the serial number on the back of the frame. Increase premium feeling.

The Tamiya one of a kind classic is back! The BIGWIG 4WD off-road buggy was released back in 1986 to commemorate 10 years of Tamiya R/C models and was the first Tamiya car with a body designed by an outside designer: Japanese full size race car designer and team owner Takuya Yura. This re-release version is based closely upon the original, with some tweaks to bring it up to date.


This 1/14 scale tractor truck recreates the Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3363 3-axle truck, which is the first narrow bodied European tractor model in the Tamiya Tractor Truck Series. The full-size subject is the German company’s heavy duty tractor head that debuted in 2013. Powered by a 630hp 15.6-liter inline-6, the actual Arocs is capable of hauling massive loads of up to 250 tons.
The Tamiya rendition faithfully captures the truck’s modern form with the use of ABS plastic body parts and a number of metal chassis components. One look at the detailed interior and auxiliary equipment, such as air tanks, will confirm that the body features replica-quality realism, which is further enhanced with metal transfers depicting emblems and numerous metal-plated parts. The chassis is built for durability as it uses aluminum side channels with resin cross members. Drivability is accomplished by power from the front-mounted motor and is transmitted via a propeller shaft to the rear axle; built-in differential gears guarantee smooth cornering. Gear changes can be made via a separately-sold Tamiya 4-channel transmitter.


Weighing in at a colossal 5,400kg, the trucks in the European Truck Racing Championship are truly the heavyweights of motorsport. But size isn’t the only thing that’s extreme about these incredible machines. The Team Reinert Racing MAN TGS truck is powered by a huge 1,100hp turbocharged diesel engine. To get that phenomenal power from the engine to the tarmac is no easy task, which is why the truck takes advantage of a Mechanical 16-speed ZF gearbox to get it up to speed. This Tamiya radio control replica faithfully captures the giant race truck of the Team Reinert Racing Team. It competed in the 2016 running of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship. The polycarbonate body sits atop the TT-01 E chassis, which is designed for easy assembly and maintenance.


This is an Educational Construction Series assembly kit. It is the first Tamiya kit in the series to use a centrifugal pump with impeller. it sucks in water and shoots it out to move the model forwards, rather than pushing it with a propeller. The kit recreates a water scooter with rider figure, and offers a fascinating insight into the mechanics of motion, perfect for inquisitive minds both young and not-so-young!
This is an assembly kit which creates a centrifugal pump-powered water scooter.
Length: 130mm, width: 52mm, height: 100mm.
The body is molded in a single piece, with a 1- piece mount for the motor, a 2-piece figure, and a separate handlebar part. A foam float is included, and the submarine motor is attached to it.
The pump features separate case, impeller blade, rudder and nozzle parts.
Includes a rudder which allows you to change the course which the model takes.
Change the angle of the pump to alter speed and direction of expelled water.
Pump is attached via suction cup. this allows you to use it in other models, too!
Features a sticker sheet to decorate the model.
The impeller is powered by the tried and trusted Submarine Motor Mini.
