2018 Tobu Tamiya modelers contest awarded work announcement

The model is also hot in the hot summer! Many works gathered at the venue of Tobuto Tamiya Modelers Gallery this year. 157 pieces gathered. Judges who selected works by themselves only with masterpieces that are hard to put on anything suffered very much. Because there were so many wonderful works so this time there are two special prizes newly appointed by Toshiaki Tamiya, chairman Tamaki Tamiya this time, furthermore, in recent years it has been difficult to see young people to participate in the contest, all 6 juniors who sent to the contest I was honored as a junior prize. Unfortunately this time the Mini 4WD Prize is no longer applicable, but next time I will be waiting for the work which started like the competition Deregans of the Mini 4WD Tournament. ■1/35 Scout Car M3A1
Designed for U.S. reconnaissance use and later provided to the Red Army, the M3A1 Scout Car is a highly versatile addition to the 1/35 Military Miniature series. In-depth study of real vehicles has made for a highly realistic depition of the car’s boxy form. The kit includes 5 Soviet figures, and marking options recreating 2 Red Army vehicles and 1 U.S. ★Length: 161mm ★With accurate depictions of 12.7mm and 7.62mm machine guns. ★Armor covers and front grille louvers can be assembled open or closed.
■1/35 U.S. Airborne Tank M551 Sheridan
The M551 Sheridan was designed as a lightweight vehicle that could be airdropped into various theaters worldwide. This model recreates the M551 as it was seen in the Vietnam War, with the lightweight form and powerful 152mm gun/launcher accurately recreated in 1/35. Also captured are details such as the M113 gun shield, anti-RPG net, hull underside mine protection and more! ★Length: 185mm ★Gun barrel tip features rifling detail. ★Realistic assembly type tracks. ★Comes with full body commander and loader figures, plus driver torso figure. ★Includes 2 Vietnam War marking options.
■1/48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I (Tentative)
The Spitfire remains a legend of the air thanks in part to the heroics of the Mk.I during the Battle of Britain in WWII. This is a brand new tooling of the Spitfire Mk.I in detailed Tamiya 1/48, with the graceful form captured in style. Parts are included to recreate various specifications of the Mk.I. ★Length: 191mm ★Choose between open and closed canopy. Cockpit features realistic detailing. ★Photo-etched parts are included. ★Comes with seated pilot figure and 3 marking options.

■1/10 R/C Comical Grasshopper (WR-02CB)
This exciting new kit is a 2WD R/C model with a new take on the classic Grasshopper. It features a lightweight and durable polycarbonate body, and a driver figure, too. The new WR-02CB chassis features wide tread and the battery pack laid out longitudinally in the rear. Give the model full throttle to perform exciting wheelies! ★Length: 356mm ★4-wheel double wishbone suspension features newly designed suspension arms and CVA oil dampers. ★Stylish bubble tires and depictions of megaphone mufflers add real character to the kit.
■1/10 R/C 312 T3 (F104W)
Ferrari’s classic 1978 racecar 312 T3 now re-appears as an R/C model assembly kit! Two bodies are included – one in highly detailed polycarbonate-ABS, and one in lightweight standard polycarbonate. The F104W chassis uses the trusty F104 as a base, with wider front suspension arms to depict the wide form of the 312 T3. ★Length: 460mm ★Double-deck frame uses 2mm upper and 3.2mm lower FRP decks. ★Ball differential gives a smooth drive. ★Includes grippy sponge tires.
■TOYOTA GAZOO Racing TS050 Hybrid (MA Chassis) (Polycarbonate Body)
This Mini 4WD assembly kit recreates the TS050 Hybrid, a car developed for racing. A polycarbonate body captures the aerodynamic form with low bonnet, bulging fenders and complex side pontoons, and included stickers help depict livery colors. It is based on the MA Chassis. ★No.7 and 8 cars can be recreated using the included stickers. ★Dark silver color fin-type wheels are paired with low-profile tires. ★Includes rear skid bar and 3.5:1 speed gears.
■Avante Jr. 30th Anniversary Special
The Avante Jr. Is back, as a special kit commemorating its initial release in December 1988. The kit includes two bodies – one in the original blue, and one with a stylish blue-plated finish. Two sets of stickers are also included – the original designs, plus a special sheet of 30th Anniversary Special ones. A stylish updated package is also sure to catch the eye. ★Type 2 chassis is molded in Gray ABS. ★White 6-spoke wheels are paired with large-diameter slick tires. ★Includes 5:1 and 4.2:1 gears.
■Aero Manta Ray Black Special (AR Chassis)
This Black Special version of the popular Aero Manta Ray sees the body molded in tinted Smoke color plastic, with clear type stickers included. Fluorescent orange wheels are paired with super hard low-profile tires featuring stylish white sidewall lettering. The new package harks back to the classic Avante Jr. Black Special original model. ★AR chassis parts are molded in tough polycarbonate-ABS. ★A Parts are low-friction resin. ★4.2:1 gear parts are included.
■Chain-Program Robot
This assembly kit creates a robot whose movement can be programmed by the use of 3 types of special link put together to form a chain. The chain is pushed through the model by the chain gear, and the reader translates the different links into positions of the rear wheel, steering the robot. Attaching the chain ends to one another creates an ongoing cycle. ★Length: approx. 185mm ★Includes everything needed for easy snap-fit/screw-together assembly. ★Requires one R6/AA/UM3 battery (not included).

Come along to the Tamiya booth to check out what the Tamiya Decoration Series is about! This hobby enjoys great popularity among all ages, regardless of gender. We will be running an event teaching how to make delectable-looking depictions of sweets from dedicated modeling clay.

The total number of submitted images is over 1,000! A lot of power work gathered. Designer Kota Nezu & Takayaki Takayuki and Tamiya staff are almost finished and the results will be announced on September 28 (Friday) on the first day of “All Japan Model Hobby Show”. Please look forward to it!

Tamiya Mini 4WD Con-d’Ele Festival 2018

A mini 4WD dressup festival is held nationwide!


Mini 4WD ‘s dressup contest “Contest Deregans (common name Condale)” is held at shops nationwide! Participation prize stickers and luxury such as “Mini Four Garage” where winners can store two plated bodies and mini 4WDs Premiums are also ants. You are also challenging to “condire” which is a different way to enjoy the mini 4WD from the race! We are waiting for entries from everyone!

Entry machines are accepted at shops nationwide. Duration and rules vary from shop to shop!

Participating machines of Condale Festival are accepted at shops nationwide listed in the following list. Since the rules such as the recruitment period and the size of acceptable machines are different for each shop, let’s ask the shop staff in advance!

Souvenirs and prizes are presented for each store! There are also commemorative stickers!

In the condelé festival, prize-winning works will be decided for each shop nationwide! In addition to the commemorative stickers being presented to participants in the condale festival, the winners (the contents of the prize differs for each store) are mini 4WD Luxury prizes such as “Mini Four Garage” which can store two cars and mini 4WD plated body etc will be offered. Please join us! Tamiya RC Car Grand Prix Video Report Vol. 24


Electric RC Car Experience Running Tour “Try !! Tamiya RC”, a “trailer passenger ride experience corner” where you can ride a large RC trailer, and “Tamiya RC Car Festival” in Tokyo, Odaiba’s theme park “Tamiya RC Car Festival”, such as experiences of “Triple Wheel Series Dancing Rider” and driving experiences of “4 WD off road car heavy dump” We held at MEGA WEB (mega web). In addition, we also hold “TRI !! Tamiya RC School in MEGA WEB”, a radio control car production experience. I enjoyed driving with the assembled RC car.

Visiting the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen

We had the luck to recently be able to visit the Porsche museum in Zuffenhausen Germany, which belongs to the Dr.-Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG and is a unique experience for any real car, model car and even Tamiya aficionado. The current form of the museum was finalised in 2009 and it has many vehicle as well as part exhibits from the whole history of the company, which this year celebrates already 70 years, 1948-2018. As many Tamiya fans who have read the autobiography of the president of Tamiya, Mr. Shunsaku Tamiya, know, Tamiya has a very special relation to Porsche, starting in the mid 70s, where Tamiya actually purchased a Porsche 911, dismantled it and rebuilt it in order to better understand the car to release a fabulous 1/12 scale static model, on which they soon after even created their first radio control car model which was a huge sale success in Japan but also in export. Therefore, on this article we will only concentrate on museum exhibits which in a more or less similar form and version were released from Tamiya as static or R/C model kits.

TRF Race Report 1/10 Electric RC Touring Car All Japan Championship including first test results with prototype of the TA 07 MS


2018 JMRCA Japanese National Championship (1:10 Electric Touring Car)

Shirakaba 2in1 Circuit, Nagano, Japan

Kiyokazu Suzuki and Takayuki Kono attended the 2018 JMRCA Japanese National Championship to support drivers of Tamiya cars at the event, also taking the opportunity to race a prototype of the TA07 MS. There was great news in the Open Class, as young speedster Takuma Sasaki and his TRF419XR took an imperious overall victory, following on from his wins in last year’s Sports Class and the Tamiya R/C World Championships. He was fast all weekend, with the top time in three of the six qualifying sessions and second fastest in two more, then putting the opposition in their place with victories in the first two rounds of the final. His victory was the first for a Tamiya car in this class at the JMRCA Japanese National Championship since 2012. Fellow TRF419XR drivers Shuma Shinozawa and Masaaki Honda finished 5th and 6th overall respectively to cap a great weekend. Kiyokazu Suzuki also competed in the Open Class, achieving 11th overall with a prototype of the new TA07 MS, while in the Super Expert Class, Shinya Shimazaki demonstrated the TRF419XR’s potential with a 9th place overall finish.
