58672 1/14 R/C Monster Beetle Trail (GF-01TR)

The classic Tamiya Monster Beetle is an iconic R/C kit. This version takes the classic body, shrinks it to a smaller scale, and mounts it on a variant GF-01 chassis called the GF-01TR!
The GF-01TR fits the gear-driven GF-01 chassis with reduction gears (also known as portal axles). This modification allows the hobbyist to better transverse trail terrain as it lifts the bottom of the chassis to better clear obstacles that could high center the vehicle and render it stuck.

Official update on the possibility of Tamiya not participating at the Nuremberg Toy Fair

We are very happy to be informed from Tamiya, Inc. International Division that the information in the previous article about the possibility of Tamiya, Inc. not participating in the future at the Nuremberg Toy Fair is not confirmed but was incorrectly reflected in the original Japanese news article, here is their official statement:

Dear TamiyaBlog,

It has come to our attention that your blog features an article about
the interview of the Shizuoka Model and Educational Materials Association
Boards held at the recent Shizuoka Hobby Show.

We wish to point out that the article, or more exactly, the original
Japanese text by the local newspaper, does not correctly reflect what our
President/Chairman Mr. S. Tamiya meant.

Namely, an expression is found which can be understood as Tamiya would not
participate in the 2020 Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg, Germany. However, this is not
correct.

We understand that this is partly a responsibility of the original Japanese
text, but you are also kindly requested to rectify your article.

Mr. Shunsaku Tamiya and other model company presidents talking at the 58th Shizuoka Hobby Show 2019 – possibility of Tamiya not participating at Nuremberg Toy Fair!

On the morning of the 8th, the Shizuoka Model Teaching Material Cooperative organized a press conference in its guest room.

Mr. Shunsaku Tamiya, president of the union, said that it was a meaningful day for children to discover a plastic model about the newly created “Invitation Day for Junior and Senior High School Students,” and said it intends to continue from 2020 onwards. The meeting was attended by Noriyuki Aoshima, chairman of Aoshima Bunka Shoji Co., Ltd., President Daisuke Aoshima, Akihisa Suzuki, chairman of Japan Radio Control Model Industries Association, Katsuhito Hasegawa, President of Hasegawa, and Mr. Keigo Tsutsui, General Manager of Deputy General Manager of Bandai Spirits Hobby Division.

The main questions and answers are as follows:

– The meaning of the invitation date is
Mr. Tamiya, “Japan’s education for manufacturing has been delayed in Southeast Asia. The children are now stunned to know that they can not make plastic models by looking at the illustration. I want to convey the pleasure of making and moving myself. All the children who are doing are very happy and excited. Today we have a rediscovery of plastic models, a big day. ”
Chairman Akihisa Suzuki “I have a feeling that I can enter education through the invitation day.

―Manufacturers at the venue are very happy to be in touch with their children. How did you feel at the venue
President Tamiya “I’m happy. The children are very excited. It is big that the prefecture has issued a decree. It was not possible for us alone. There may be more than half the children who are making plastic models for the first time today. ”
Mr. Aoto, “The children were sitting and talking. I feel I was really happy to do it.”
President of Hasegawa “Dozens of people are standing in the model class, and everyone is concentrating on it. I felt that the essence of the child has not changed.”
Mr. Tsutsui “Conversely, the children are given the power. Everyone who is standing on the scene will be the vitality from tomorrow. I am grateful for having such an opportunity.”

― How do you see the model market?
Mr. Tamiya “The domestic market is not active. Germany is sluggish, and the Southeast Asian market is larger than the euro zone. It has been exhibited for 52 consecutive years at the German Spielwaren Messe show, but from next year (think not to exhibit.) There is no open to the public, entrance fee is high, and the number of people is not increasing.
President Hasegawa “The burden of stay expenses and exhibition costs is heavy, and the exhibition of Spielwaren Messe will be discontinued from next year”

― Is the product conscious of teaching materials increasing?
“I think that there are some manufacturers that have changed the course of study and provided teaching materials with IT in mind, but I’m working as much as possible on the development of products that cultivate the creative power to make things by themselves.” the creative force that moves the hand build things on their own.”

Triple Wheel Fun – The Tamiya T3-01 Dancing Rider

When Tamiya presented the new T3-01 platform, with it´s first model of the series, the Dancing Rider, we almost couldn´t believe, that there´s still a company, who has still the courage to bring such a nice and well designed fun model into the sometimes more and more boring world of RC-Cars. But Tamiya did it. The T3-01 seems to be very successful, especially in Japan, which you can also see on the wide range of Hop Ups which are available now from Tamiya and other well known aftermarket parts manufacturers.

The T3-01 is such a cool and innovative vehicle. One, who is also able to bring more people of allo ages again to this beautiful hobby. The “Dancing Rider” replicates a delivery trike, widely seen, making deliveries in Japan.

Another version of the “Dancing Rider” is also on the market for a while. The “Dual Rider”, which comes with a very nice, more futuristic body, beautifully designed by the well known “pdc designworks” studio. In the past, they also did the Tamiya “Dual Ridge” and “Dynahead” body.

A great new feature of the new “Dual Rider”, is the completely new designed driver figure (also designed by “pdc designworks”), which we appreciate a lot. We love the “Wild Willy” style driver very much. But over the years, something new is very welcome here. This figure can be built in 3 very cool Helmet versions, and looks very “japanese”. It can also be found in the “Comical Hornet” WR-02CB kit, and is also available as a separate kit. We choose this new figure for our little “Dancing Rider”. We also modified the chassis with some new available Hop Up Parts. The chrome plated B-Parts, from which we only use the front fork, or the new “caramel block” front tire, which we combined with the M-chassis rally block tires. A full set of ball bearings, and a rear FRP sway arm.

The body is painted, using a bright “copper” tone, which looks incredible in the sun. Grab yourself a T3-01. It´s more fun, than you can imagine. Especially, when racing with your friends. We will wait now for the newly presented Tamiya SW-01 Mini Lunch Box. Another nice and new innovative concept.

This is a compact, maneuverable, and above all super-fun addition to the world of Tamiya wheelie models! It’s a familiar face, too, as the legendary Tamiya Lunch Box has been shrunk down to 1/24 scale.

The classic shrunken Lunch Box body sits on top of the 4WD SW-01 chassis.

SWD-01 chassis key features:
