Look into the Tamiya 58706 Thunder Shot 2022 & 58704 Toyota Land Cruiser 40 Pick-Up Quadtrack GF-01FT kits


Tamiya is all about the model building experience and they offer some truly unique kits for the RC builder segment. New models are constantly being released, some with variations and some are new takes on some classic kits. We just received two new kits in the shop to take a look at and Greg thought he’d take the time to unbox them to show new builders what’s inside a Tamiya build-up kit. The first kit is a rerelease of a classic buggy, the Thunder Shot. This is a 4wd off-road buggy and it’s mostly a rerelease of the 2005 Thunder Shot rerelease. Which is good because it has a few changes from the original and will be a fun build that will bring hobbiests back down memory lane. The other kit featured here is the Toyota Land Cruiser 40 QuadTrack! This fun 4×4 build is fitted with Tamiya’s tracks for some wild off-road fun in sand, snow and mud. Both kits are certainly going to be a lot of fun to build and we’ll feature them in upcoming review videos, but for now enjoy diving into two new kits with Greg!

The all-new XV-02 Pro chassis kit is Tamiya’s second modern era, purpose built, 4WD Rally machine! The XV-01 Pro incorporated a 4WD belt drive system with clever positioning of the RC electronic components with debris protection compartments. The all-new XV-02 Pro takes its 4WD drivetrain into a different direction by using a shaft-driven system with front mid-ship motor placement that incorporates equal length front and rear propeller shafts!

XV-02 chassis at a glance:
• Comes with two 39T differential gears and one 40T differential gear for adjustment of front and rear drive balance. (Over-Drive and Under-Drive Adjustment)
• Use 39T gear (w/15T gear) on the front and 40T gear (w/15T gear) on the rear for drive balance bias to front and vice-versa for drive balance bias to rear.
• Features newly-designed parts such as gears, bathtub frame chassis, chassis cover, caster blocks featuring 6-degree caster angle (XV-01 chassis: 10-degree caster angle), and bumpers with skid angles to reduce surface contact.
• The motor mount, propeller shafts, input and center shafts, and urethane bumpers have new metal parts.
• Features a longitudinal battery pack position in the center-left for optimum balance.
• Long aluminum dampers are employed at front and rear.
• A polycarbonate chassis cover with wheel well liners help prevent dirt and dust from getting inside.
• Suspension arms and front uprights are based upon the XV-01 chassis kit.
• Comes with rally block tires and wheels.
• Requires: Tamiya Rally Body, 2-channel radio, servo, ESC, 540-type motor, and 7.2-7.4volt battery with compatible charger.

Tamiya Plamodel Factory Limited Kit Mini 4WD REV Aero Thunder Shot 2022 Fresh Green Special


It will be on sale from March 18, 2022 (Friday) at Tamiya Plamodel Factory.
“Mini 4WD REV Aero Thunder Shot 2022 Fresh Green Special”, a limited kit that can only be obtained at Tamiya Plamodel Factory Shimbashi store and Tressa Yokohama store, will be released. An original sticker with the image of young leaves growing freshly in the spring is set on the Aero Thunder Shot, which has an attractive aerodynamic form. Vivid metallic orange is used for the canopy. The metallic graphic of “Tamiya Plamodel Factory” is laid out on the body side. A special item that is perfect for souvenirs and collections.

Completed A4 size 2WD buggy that can be easily played with dry batteries
Tamtech Gear is a completed electric RC car packed with a high-performance mechanism in a compact size of almost A4 size. RTR (Ready to Run) with a transmitter set in addition to the completed car body. Not only can you enjoy running immediately out of the box, but you can also use AA alkaline batteries as a running power source for about 60 minutes in normal mode. It can run for about 25 minutes in power mode. The body scales down the popular Mighty Frog as a 2WD buggy. Made of light and shock resistant polycarbonate. Tamiya Land Rover Defender 90 CC-02 video review


Landrover Defender 90 Fan? Now, there’s always one company you can turn to for fun RC build kits and that’s Tamiya. Their RC models are uniquely designed and are topped off with wild body designs all the way to scale replica shells. This is one of their fun scale crawler style models, the Defender 90 on top of the CC-02 chassis. This interestingly designed crawler is fun to build and is easy to get together thanks to Tamiya’s detailed instructions. The body will require painting and decaling just like any type of model.
