Details of upcoming Tamiya 61115 1/48 Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien to be presented at Tamiya Fair 2016

Tamiya is delighted to announce the addition of a new subject to the 1/48 scale Aircraft Series – the Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien, which was the only Pacific War fighter on the Japanese roster with a liquid-cooled engine. The timing is particularly auspicious, as Kawasaki Heavy Industries is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year and exhibited a restored Ki-61-II Hien in Japan. The Ki-61-Id variant depicted by the Tamiya kit was the most prolifically produced Hien, and there is plenty for modelers to look forward as it accurately renders the graceful, large-wingspan form with aplomb, also capturing the Ha-40 with supercharger. Come and find out more at Tamiya Fair 2016, which takes place from November 19th.

A Ki-61 Hein is a good addition to the Tamiya range of 1/48 Japanese fighters. We in the Japanese Aviation Special Interest Group in IPMS (UK) are quite looking forward to it.

I like that Tamiya continues to include at least a seated pilot figure with their new mould latest release aircraft kits. It’s an important item of consideration for me which irks me about otherwise decent kits from Hasegawa and Eduard. Smart value adding from Tamiya.
